What is the appropriate drying temperature for a 4A sieve?
2025-06-13
The drying temperature of 4A molecular sieve is usually between 300°C and 350°C. The specific temperature and time need to be adjusted according to the activation requirements and application scenarios.
4A Molecular Sieve Drying Temperature and Methods
Conventional Activation Temperature
The drying (activation) temperature of 4A molecular sieve is generally 300°C to 350°C, and the time needs to last 2 to 8 hours. For example:
Baking at 300°C in a muffle furnace for 2 hours.
Drying at 350°C under normal pressure for 8 hours (if a vacuum pump is used, it can be shortened to vacuum drying at 150°C for 5 hours).
High-temperature rapid activation
Some scenarios require higher temperatures (such as calcination at 500°C for 5 hours), but it should be noted that excessively high temperatures may cause the molecular sieve to become powdery. It is recommended to control the temperature at 300-320°C to balance efficiency and stability.
Precautions
After activation, it should be transferred to a desiccator for sealing and storage while hot (approximately 200°C) to avoid re-absorption of moisture.
Avoid contact with oil or liquid water to prevent performance degradation.
